The sacral chakra is the second chakra in the human body. It is represented by the color orange and is our energetic center to supporting personal expansion, sexuality, creativity, emotions, intuition, and more. It is represented by the element of water which signifies flexibility and going with the flow. Getting to know your sacral chakra can have profoundly positive impacts on your personal and interpersonal relationships.
The mind-body connection works by a feedback loop between the body and the mind. Our minds continually take in information through our bodies about our environments and use electrical currents to communicate within ourselves and carry out tasks we require to sustain life such as breathing, walking, smiling, and you get the idea.
Chakras act as energetic hubs in our bodies, they align with our spine and interact with our mind-body connection by sharing life supporting energy or chi. These unseen energetic orbs radiate at different frequencies as they spin within our bodies, creating an array of vivid colors that corresponds with and supports various organs, nerves, and muscles.
Chakras also have the uncanny ability to impact our spiritual, emotional, and psychological wellbeing so as a result it is believed that their malfunction can lead to disorders that manifest in the body and mind.
When the sacral chakra is not in balance it can show up as some of the following:
🔸consuming or overwhelming emotions
🔸engaging in harmful expressions of sexuality
🔸low or high libido
By utilizing our tools, we can regain the balance of this energetic center and improve our overall wellbeing. The following are some examples of ways to acknowledge and address imbalance.
🔸meditation and yoga
🔸speaking or journaling affirmations
🔸working with crystals and stones
🔸supplementing your diet with orange foods and foods that naturally carry an abundance of seeds
Balancing your chakras may improve the way we feel overall and may even impact those around us as we being to move in a more aligned and authentic way. Its possible to see improvements in our relationships, we may will feel more connected to nature and community, and we may experience a surge of creativity! Yet it is wise to remember that balancing our chakras is not "one and done", it is a continuous mindful practice of assessing the mind, body, and spirit for pain points that require some extra attention. At times additional outside support such as talking to a loved one or therapist is useful too.
