See You Next Year...Maybe!

Hey, its me, Sarah! Happy First Nations Heritage month. I would like to acknowledge that I have the honor to reside on the traditional lands of the Miccosukee, Seminole, & Mascogo People, and pay my respect to elders both past and present. I specifically moved to this area because I adore being so close to the trees so I am truly grateful for their stewardship of this land.

If you have been around long enough, then you know that I usually turn out at least one blog post a week every month. However recently we've only had some herbal studies and I am not sure when that will change. Although it is outside of my normal writing habit, I have come to realize it is not outside of my normal life habits. I really enjoy the fall and winter months here in Florida, so much so that I want nothing more than to be outdoors taking a long walk or on the couch watching scary movies and eating popcorn or visiting with folks I care about and eating lots of fatty foods, but I have absolutely no desire to work or be at a laptop! I'll admit that in previous years this has been distressing to me. That led me to find ways to stay busy or stay working, and while I was "productive" the quality of the work was lacking and I wasnt satisfied anyway.

So, this year I have leaned into "not working" and instead doing only what feels like fun and play. I have to tell you that its been really fun! I have taken days to put my toes in the sand, I've enjoyed eating beignets by the beach with friends, I've snuck away from "responsibilities" to go plot and scheme over coffee, and recently I talked birth and autonomy over a delicious salmon lunch. There has been lots of food (like I hoped) and lots of laughter involved (which I adore)! It all sounds playful and easy to me, which is exactly what I want in life, so I am going to continue to lean into it as I prepare for 2023.

The year of 2022 has been an awe-inspiring chapter for me both personally and professionally. I am surprised at how far I've come over the last 11 months and how far I have yet to go. I completed a couple herbal training courses to support both pregnancy release and postpartum care, I completed Full Spectrum Doula training with BADT, I rebranded and launched Sun Moon & Stars Holistic Health & Reproduction...and all of it is leading me to cocreating an amazing community justice driven organization that I cant WAIT to tell you more about.

So, while this blog space may not be as active as it previously was, understand that I am off being busy irl, doing amazing things in our community and I'd love for you to join me! Dont forget to check out our events page to find where I'll be and what I'll be doing and keep an eye for more blog entries.
